Support us on our Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/codebabes The only thing you really need to dominate on the internet is a computer that’s hooked up to the internet, plus willpower to not look at porn, youtube and reddit all day and actually learn to code. Your operating system doesn’t matter, unless you want to build an iphone app, then you need Mac OSX. You can develop for Android on OSX, windows or Linux, one of the many reasons it’s kicking the iphones ass. Apple fanboys, post bitchy comments below. Moral of the story, who gives a shit if you're a mac, PC, or really sexy and use Linux, just start building something. But, let’s go over a few things. Number one, all browsers are not created equal. If you are watching this lesson on Internet Explorer, stop everything and download firefox or chrome. Remember, friends don’t let friends use Internet Explorer. Chrome is fast, and has great developer tools plus lots of awesome add ons to help you out. Firefox is great for the same reasons. Open chrome and inspect a page, with developer tools the front end code that is creating the page is visible. We see the HTML and the CSS making it sexy, like all this (gesture). We can even change things in real time. It’s like x-ray vision for the web. Bet you wish it worked on me too? You can even copy and paste code, like Picasso and Steve Jobs said, good artists copy, great artists steal. Just don’t be a dick about it. Think more like reading other peoples code is a great way to learn. Next, you can’t write code with Word processors. You need a text editor. For PC, Sublime or notepad++, if you are on mac there are a few more good ones, Sublime again, texmate, MacVim and others. Sublime is the new hotness in the developer community and you won’t go wrong with it. When programming you’ll spend most of your time thinking, not writing code, so just pick a damn text editor and get on with it. Then we need two more things, a way to run it on your computer, known as local development and a way to get it up to wherever you get some server hosting. To run your code locally, just means running it on your computer. To set this up you can download WAMP for windows or MAMP for mac. The AMP stands for Apache, mySQL and PHP. These programs set up the server stack on your computer, then you put your code in the correct directory and your computer acts as the server. Now your site runs without being connected to the internet and you can test stuff before moving it to your live site. To move your code use an FTP program, we recommend CyberDuck, which works on Mac and PC. This program gives you an interface to move files to your server. We’ll talk about where to get your domain name and server next. Stick around.

Here is the ultimate step-by-step guide for creating a membership site from scratch without touching a single line of code. Hey and welcome to How To Create a Membership Site With Zero Coding. In this tutorial series I am going to show you exactly what this says. How you can create your own membership site where you can sell your content, your tools, your community, whatever it is. You can create this with zero coding. So I am going to show you exactly how to do that. And this video, Part Number 1 is the overview of exactly what we are going to be covering in this series. So the main stages that occur to set up this membership site are: the first stage is you need to create your website; we then need to install the membership software so this will protect parts of our website so only members can access it; we then need to add our content or whatever it is that we are selling; and then the last step is to actually go out there and get some customers who can begin joining our membership site and getting access to all the good stuff we have to offer. So these stages are broken down into a bunch of different steps. So stage number 1 about creating your website, we have part number 2 of 12 because this video that you are watching right now – part number 1, is actually buying your domain name. So that is your www.yourmembershipsite.com. The next step is to go ahead and purchase hosting because that is where the membership site is going to live. We then need to connect our domain and hosting so that when people type in your membershipsite.com or whatever your domain is, they are actually visiting your correct website. And then the fifth part of setting up your website is actually setting up WordPress which is the software that we are going to use to create our website. It has a really easy to use backend, to add content and things like that and great functionality for creating a membership site. We then go into stage 2, which is adding your membership plugin. We are going to cover all of these in just 1 video in part number 6, about how to install and configure your membership plugin so that only members can access the goodies and they need to pay in order to get access because that is why we are running a membership site. ------------------------------------------ http://pelt.co/1 - View the full transcription and audio version of this episode.

HOW TO FIND A GREAT DOMAIN NAME how to fid a great domain today we're not going to do any design work i'm just going to talk about something that's very important if you're a freelance designer or coder or anybody is creative I you always should have a website so before you have a website of course you have to have the domain name so most people are most beginners rather you know their method of choosing a domain name might be just go to a site like godaddy.com try to do the search there and find something ultimately that is available and that's it well that's the wrong approach there's a lot of different ways methods tactics techniques that you can use to try to find a good domain name so that's what I'm going to do in this video a little bit just talked about just a few ways on strategies that you can use to try to find a domain name alright so basically if you haven't yet check out design course calm and subscribe here on youtube alright so basically the way I approach finding a domain name I i will usually start off at instant domain search com and i've used this for quite a while and basically what's cool about it is if you just start typing any type of characters available and I i did a search for that domain on and Google and that name was barter full . com so i just typed in barter full and i saw that someone had put up a video already about introducing beautiful calm and I the actually happened to be just like a fake type of company for a class like a college project i guess but someone already owned it so it's kind of nice to know I where if there's ever any type of history associated with the dot-com or if there's already a company name that's associated we already being used I as your calm and you you obviously kind of want to avoid that so I going to close that out real quick so basically when it comes to choosing a domain extension dot com is most preferable of course there are very successful . nets I even . ko's and in dot orgs I you don't always have to but most people that the average person when they think of a domain I they think of the dot-com first so there's definitely higher value and that so I if we also come over here say for example you didn't really find anything everything's taken maybe you really do want a certain com that's already available well you have a couple options when it comes to design course com I really wanted that name but a domain name squatting company they were they were using it so that they owned it and so what will happen is you'll see some of the times is let me see I bring up another window here this is what kind of shut up that you'll see these type of landing pages all over for a lot of domains they're already registered but they're owned by a different company and their sole purpose is trying to make profit by selling it so if you're interested in buying this website name click here to inquire and you can really go back and forth with these people to try to get the price down because although they do want to sell I so when it back when i bought design course , it was I think was like fifteen hundred bucks but to me it was worth it was a good domain name on and obviously being a keyword domain so I that's one thing to keep in mind a another to keep in mind is to check out snap names . com and this is an interesting tool because I allows you to browse a list of domains that will be expiring soon so obviously most of you already know that when you register a domain name you don't just permanently own it is a thing that has to be i renewed annually so every 12 months you have to renew it unless of course you buy bulk years and what happens is sometimes people for whatever reason they let it expire maybe most people probably gave up on the idea I some people maybe got a new email address forget to check the notifications that come in from the registrar alerting them that the other domains about to expire and that has happened in the past because some really awesome domains have I actually gone into in expiration and you're able to bid on this because these companies like snap names they're able to I really register and quick and you're able to go into potentially bidding wars with other people who also want the name so i've used this in the past but I was actually quite a long time ago i haven't used it recently but you can click over here and categories for example I let's . This is the first video of actual content where we purchase our domain name and setup web hosting. I am using domains.com and justhost.com for this video. I have not gotten paid by either company so feel free to go with any company you prefer. I just wanted to try JustHost because a lot of other bloggers recommend it. If you enjoy this series please subscribe so I can keep doing this. I love making videos, but I am not getting paid to do this. In fact I am using my own money to fund all of the things I need to buy in the video such as a domain name, and webhosting. All I ask is for you to subscribe if you got any value from it. ********************************************************************* UPDATE: I got an email from Clef and they clarified some topics in my video at my request. I was in such a rush to spread the word about this that I didn't do much research. I was like Paul Revere who rode off into the night and then when he got to the first town forgot what he was supposed to say. Here is an excerpt from Clef: " Since you mentioned you wanted to learn more about how it works and to kick it in the tires a bit further, I'll share a few brief thoughts on points and questions you raised: Mobile log ins work slightly differently than desktop logins; see Does the Clef app facilitate logins on mobile browsers? There's a big difference between Clef and Waltz; see What is Waltz, and how does it relate to Clef? Waltz was created by a third-party and is not currently developed by Clef. As was evident in your video, Waltz still has some rough edges that need ironing out. Security-wise, Waltz is still a password manager (which uses Clef to unlock its vault) rather than a true Clef-enabled login; Clef-enabled logins are much different: they use public-key encryption and OAuth 2.0 to log you in rather than passwords. Clef has several plugins, some from third-parties (and some of which need to be updated such as the Drupal plugin): Where can I log in with Clef? The WordPress plugin is the most advanced/developed so far. Regarding Clef 2FA for WordPress and bruteforce attacks, the Clef plugin does indeed stop brute force attacks dead at the application layer (i.e., at WordPress's two authentication "doors": wp-login.php and xmlrpc.php. But it does not stop the bots from "knocking" at the doors (i.e., the Clef plugin is not a firewall). Also, note that it is possible for bots to send spoofed login requests to both "doors" even when passwords are disabled and the wp-login.php form is not displayed (i.e., the bots don't need the actual HTML form to send malicious POST requests to the login script or to XML-RPC. For these reasons we designed the Clef plugin to work well with other network defenses and other WP security/firewall plugins; see Why is my WP site receiving failed login attempt notifications after disabling passwords with Clef? Clef is not a WordPress company. We're an online identity company that provides state-of-the-art two-factor authentication for businesses and enterprises. We provide a free API that any developer can use to build Clef integration into any web application, and we're about to launch a mobile app software package that will allow app developers to embed Clef login into iOS and Android apps. In the past several months we've seen many prominent BitCoin sites adopt Clef to protect BTC accounts and wallets, and our team is working hard to bring Clef's secure, password-free logins to more and more mainstream sites. " ******************************************************************** This is a program called Clef. If you are like me and you keep forgetting your passwords then you should give this program a try. I am not affiliated with them, I don't get paid for this, I just think the program is awesome and I really like using it. I love making videos, but I am not getting paid to do this. In fact I am using my own money to fund all of the things I need to buy in the video such as a domain name, and webhosting. All I ask is for you to subscribe if you got any value from it.
